Azerbaijan attended the next meeting of the Committee on Artificial Intelligence
Azerbaijan attended the third plenary session of the Ad Hoc Committee on Artificial Intelligence (CAHAI) established by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CoE). Our country was represented at the online event by Fariz Jafarov, director of the E-GOV Development Center (EGDC) of the State Agency for Citizen Services and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as Gunay Kazimzada, advisor on Artificial Intelligence to the director of EGDC and Aziza Vidadi, specialist of EGDC.
On the opening day of the plenary session, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović Burić, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Rick Daems, Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection, Germany Christian Kastrop spoke. The use of Artificial Intelligence was discussed at the three-day event. They also discussed issues such as design, development and application of Artificial Intelligence on human rights, the rule of law and democracy and exchanged views with stakeholders. The Azerbaijani delegation made remarks on the methodology, terminology, classification and systematization during the preparation of the feasibility study submitted by the Committee, and made proposals on the application and legal basis for the application of Artificial Intelligence, especially in specific areas.
As a result of the event, a feasibility study of a legal document on Artificial Intelligence was adopted and will be submitted to the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in 2021.
Last year, from Azerbaijan, Fariz Jafarov, the director of EGDC, was elected as an observer member of the Bureau of the Committee on Artificial Intelligence of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
